Kindergarten field trip

078

Last week I volunteered to help with the kindergarten field trip to the botanical gardens to see the butterfly exhibit.

First we checked out les papillions de nuit (moths).

The kids were asked to gather information on what they eat (les oranges, les kiwis et les bananes …)

Such a little poser …

Then it was on to les papillions (butterflies)

These are called Blue Morpho, they look like moths from the outside

but inside, they are an iridescent blue

The Skating Show

Skating show April 2012

Naomi is in the blue Cinderella dress (with the white skates).

Naomi was thrilled to be a part of the year end skating show.  Her bestie is the one in yellow and they had so much fun skating together this year.  Naomi is really sad that the skating season is done.  we are going to start her in the pre-junior lessons in September but until then she will have to find some other sport or hobby to keep her busy.

Here she is trying on her costume at the dress rehearsal.

Proudly showing off the flowers that she received (from us)

Easter 2012

Just getting around to posting some Easter pictures of the kids.

040

Naomi was up bright and early (6am-ish) and she was all excited because she could see some eggs hidden in the living room.  The pictures are a bit blurry as we were trying to snap them as the kids whooshed past us (not to mention we hadn’t had any coffee yet).

On Easter Monday we headed to Ottawa to visit my family.  Here is Naomi modeling the outfit she chose to wear.

Spring has sprung!

059

We have been having some truly beautiful weather here lately.  Everything is blooming several weeks early – see the tiny flowers behind Naomi?  We don’t usually see those until the end of April (this picture was taken in early April).

Naomi wanted to try taking the training wheels off her bike to see if she could ride a two-wheeler.  She really enjoyed using a wrench and I enjoyed teaching her how to do it herself (I am raising a self-sufficient girl here).  We did some practicing at the park – I found that running with her while holding the back of her sweatshirt worked best.  Though her balance is good and she was able to ride pretty well, starting and stopping needs some work.  For now the training wheels are back on but I have a feeling that they will be off again very soon.

Computer virus

I’m back!  I have been in computer virus hell for the last 2 weeks and I am so behind on blogging (and everything else).

computer-virus-picturejpg1

This whole thing made me realize how much I rely on my computer and how hard it is to live without it!

I just downloaded all my pictures so I’ll be doing separate posts for Easter, Naomi’s skating show, the class trip to the butterfly museum, and more!  Stay tuned …

Oh, and if you haven’t backed up your important files (and pictures!) or don’t have antivirus software – get on it before it’s too late!!

Cookies for sale

IMG_3145

Naomi was super excited today because her Sparks troop got Girl Guide cookies to sell.  We have to sell 2 cases which is a total of 24 boxes of cookies.  They are all sandwich cookies, half vanilla, half chocolate.  Lemme know if you want some!  $5 a box.

I thought it was quite industrious of Naomi to sell her first box to her brother.  Lol.  But really it was nice of him to support his little sister!  Now onto the grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbours, etc …
