My little artist

Naomi loves to draw.  She has boxes and boxes of art supplies though markers are her favourite.  It is rare to see her not drawing! Every day she comes home from school excitedly showing all the art projects she worked on.  Her hands are constantly covered in marker and sometimes there is even some on her face and clothes.  Luckily daddy works for a paper company so there is always lots of material for her to use.  A trip to the dollar store is a thrilling experience as she can stock up on embellishments such as stickers and glitter glue.

I find her pictures so funny these days.  She is into drawing animals and women with long, long hair and high heels.  For homework yesterday she had to draw her favourite wild animal.  She chose a cheetah.  I asked her if she knew how to draw a cheetah and she just looked at me funny and said, “of course”!  I wish I had taken a picture of it before I sent it in – it was really good.

I always feel bad throwing away any art work so I decided that I would take pictures of the best ones so we can look back on them (when she is a famous artist – lol).

She told me that these were rock stars – I’m thinking it looks a lot like Lady Gaga!

For this one, she drew a castle, then cut the door to open and pasted a picture of a girl behind it so you can open the door and see her

I *love* that she used 3 different skin tones here …

I’m amazed at the fox in this picture!

I was thinking to maybe pick up a couple of inexpensive frames and hang up a few favourites.

Disneyland

We’ve already been home for almost a week and I have not posted any photos!  In my defence, I was sick during the trip and have taken this week slow to recuperate (and do a ton of laundry).

The weather was not as warm as I was expecting but Disneyland did not disappoint.  We all had a blast and I think we did just about every ride except the Tower or Terror and one really fast roller coaster that Naomi was too small for.  Kudos to both kids for being brave enough to do Space Mountain! We LOVED the fireworks and World of Color (a light show done with fountains).  Naomi was thrilled with the Bibbity-Bobbity Boutique and lunch at Ariel’s Grotto.  Francis loved the Autopia ride and fell in love with churros.

Overall I was quite impresses with Disneyland.  We are used to Disney World and I was a bit worried that there wouldn’t be enough to do for a week and that the lines would be so much longer because the parks are smaller.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I think the longest we waited for a ride was 45 minutes – for Space Mountain.  Everything else was 5 – 20 minutes.  Also, I liked that we could walk to our hotel in about 10 – 15 minutes and didn’t have to wait for any busses.  Disneyland is much more lush and green than I remembered it to be (back in 1994).  We did 5 days of the parks and one day we rented a car and did a quick trip to Hollywood, Redondo beach and to some stores.  I’m sad it is over but we have some great memories!
