So far this has been the most wonderful summer. The weather has been perfect and the pool has been consistently in the 80’s!
Week one of summer break was quite busy with traveling to Toronto and Niagara Falls. By comparison, week two has been much more relaxed.
We kicked off the week with our annual Canada Day party. For the first time in years we did not get a drop of rain. The sky was cloudless and we had more people in the pool than ever before.
For the rest of the week we fell into a routine of swimming and playing outside. Francis has a bunch of friends at the community pool so he has been spending much of his time there. Also, Steph’s aunt (who lives a few houses away) minds her 2 granddaughters a few times a week – the girls are the same age as Naomi and Francis and they all get along famously. The older two have been on a Monopoly streak while the younger two spent days decorating a giant box.
As for myself, I have been reading a lot. Our local library is a 5 minute walk away and they offer craft sessions for the kids on Fridays. Every week I get a stack of novels to read. This week I read The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen and The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama. Both books were really good but I particularly liked the one by Zama because it was all about the customs and culture in India which I found really interesting. I have a couple Meg Cabot books lined up for this week!
