So continuing from my previous post … the kids only had a half day on the last day of school so while they were off saying goodbye to their friends and teachers, I was packing up the car for a road trip. At noon we picked the kids up and headed west. Francis had a baseball tournament in the Richmond Hill area of Toronto. We made it in about 6 hours with time to spare until the 8pm game. Naomi and I decided to take it easy at the hotel – the Marriott in Markham – which was lovely.
Unfortunately, the Braves did not do too well in their baseball tournament – losing all 3 games. Too bad. So we headed North (west) to visit my aunt and uncle. They live in a lovely rural area surrounded by farms. We checked out the nearby town of Erin which hosts a multitude of quaint little shops. Here the boys have just scarfed down doughnuts from the bakery.
On Sunday, Francis decided to
go for a joyride on the lawnmower cut the grass using the ride-on lawnmower. He didn’t enjoy it at all.
The rest of us helped build a new fire pit for so that we have a fire and roast marshmallows that evening.
Then we went on a hike in the forest …
After a yummy dinner of homemade ribs and fresh corn, it was time for the fire. There was much talking, singing, marshmallow
burning roasting, fire poking and general silliness all around. We even had some visitors. One of the human kind (neighbor) and several of the bovine kind. “moooooo …”
We all had a great time. The kids are still talking about the “campfire” and the cows … lol.
