Mom runs a 5K

In an effort to stay true to my promise of being a bit less camera shy, I thought I'd post some pictures of myself at my first 5K. These were taken during Ottawa Race Weekend.







For several months I had been kicking around the idea of running a 5K and finally in March, around my birthday I decided to just go ahead and sign up. I wanted to start a running program and have the 5K be the goal at the end. Well, I have to say that it worked out pretty well! I used the Couch to 5K (C25K) program which was great - I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to run. I downloaded podcasts onto my iPod that had music as well as verbal prompts for when to walk and when to run. My time on race day was 38:41.7 - not too bad for a beginner but I do hope to improve on that time by my next 5K.
