Happy 8th birthday Francis!!

Believe it or not this is the best photo of the evening (I was bringing in the cake so not my fault!) I will search for some better pictures tomorrow, just wanted to get a quick post out on his actual birthday before I head to bed.
I can hardly believe he is 8, where does the time go? 8 is such a funny age, somewhere between being a little kid and a big kid! It's an auspicious number for the Chinese so maybe it will be a lucky year for him!

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

Naomi showing off a silk outfit we bought in China. I am a bit confused by the sizes. I got dresses in each size, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc ... thinking it was by age. This one is a 6 (it's a bit big) but she's only 2! The size 2 one is teeny tiny and I have 2 size 4 dresses that fit pretty good. Anyone have a clue about these sizes?
Here are some CNY decorations around our house ...

Table's all set for tomorrow ... Naomi LOVES these kid chopsticks!

Some little lanterns that I found at a party store.
Some little swirly dragon thingies ... and that's about it!
Here are a couple of books that Naomi really enjoys about Chinese New Year. She is going to bring them to daycare (small home daycare) tomorrow so I included a small box of Pocky sticks to share with her friends. These are her absolute favourite .... not sure how much sharing will happen.
On another note, Naomi "graduated" from her gymnastics class today. They did a little show for the parents and then the teacher handed out the medals to Rocky music. So stinking cute. I wish I had thought to bring my camera! She is soooooo proud of her little medal ... her brother has a room full of them and now she finally has one too. The first thing she said when she ran to me was "Look! Just like Francis!"

I need a change. This old blog needs a new look. I have been looking at templates and skins for hours. No clue. I know I want a 3 column design, preferably where you can upload pictures into the header. Anyone have any ideas or sugestios?

Global Warming?

It is -28 degrees. It's freekin' cold. I shouldn't complain, I have lived here all my life and January is always like this. It's the reason I own Ski-Doo boots even though I don't own a Ski-Doo. Somehow it always comes to me as a shock. Makes me wonder what my ancestors were thinking (really, I'd like to know). I read somewhere that it was only -7 in the North Pole today. That's just not right.

I'm going to hibernate in my bed. I mean, that's what bears do right? They go to sleep all fattened up (sounds familiar) then wake up in the spring, thin, relaxed, in time for the flowers.
Sign me up for some of that!!!

Kennedy is the eldest daughter of our super adoption coordinator Karen. Karen and her husband James have adopted 6 kids from China. Kennedy was invited to go to China and celebrate with the Yangzhou Children's Social Welfare Institute their 20 years of helping children find their families as well as completing their new children's building. She is from there and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. She is fundraising to be able to attend and I wanted to share her blog with everyone in the hopes that she can fundraise enough to reach her goal and get to experience this special event.
