plans?

Ok, so am I the only one itching for rumors?? I can barely stand it anymore! I miss RQ! Wanh!! Why isn't anyone talking about the CCAA??? It's not easy being next after next!! I NEED to know how far they are going to get so I can PLAN! Because I'm a planner. I'm a big-time planner. At times I can be an over-the-top list-making check-marking Excel spreadsheet-making planerator! Let's just say that if a plan-a-thon was an Olympic sport I'd be a shoe-in.

Anyhoo ... if you hear any rumors, please let me know. I'm off to polish off the rest of the Tobelorone I started last night ...

p.s. I still can't get over the fact that you people in the USA don't get Kinder surprise! I'm torn between being horrified and just wanting to yell nya-nya nya-nya- nya!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

We are off to a celebratory lunch with our adoption group today so I shouls have pictures for you later!! Don't forget to wear red as red is the festive color in Chinese Culture.

Many of you will have children born this year - so here are the personality traits for those born under the year of the Pig!

THE YEAR OF THE PIG 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007People born in the Year of the Pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. For Boar Year people, there is no left or right and there is no retreat. They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They don't make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. They don't talk much but have a great thirst for knowledge. They study a great deal and are generally well informed. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. No matter how bad problems seem to be, Boar people try to work them out, honestly if sometimes impulsively. They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.

Recently I purchased these books from Scholastic Books - I really recomend them - they are very colorful and fun!
Gung Hay Fat Choy everyone!

This is where I spend most of my time ... yes, it's my office!! And these are the flowers that my boss sent me ... get your mind out of the gutter - he sends Valentine flowers to all the women in the office.

This is a view out of my office window ... see that big square building in the distance? This is where my fellow bloggy friend Doris works! Now you can understand why we meet for lunch so often eh? Oh, and the "incriminating" photos I was talking about the other day can be found on HER blog!

This is the view out my kitchen window ... more snow! Pretty isn't it?

Speaking of my kitchen - this is the kitchen wall that I can't seem to decide which color to paint ...

weekend review

What a great weekend we had!! Francis' skiing lessons are starting to pay off - on Saturday he took the chairlift up and skied all the way down without falling! Saturday night we had fellow bloggy friends; Doris and Dan and Elisa, Jarrod and Thomas over for game night. We had such a blast and couldn't stop laughing. The photos I have are too incriminating to post except the one where Francis tried to take a picture of his new shirt himself while actually still wearing it! Thank you Elisa!! (it says can't wait to meet my little sister) Awwww....cute!

Today was a nice relaxing day. We went sledding at a nearby golf course that has some great hills. After about 2 hours we were spent and needed to warm up our fingers and toes! Francis and I made some valentines this afternoon as well - here he is proudly showing off his artwork.

Cheap art for little farts ...

A while back I bought two really nice white frames at HomeSence for $5.99 each. I have been trying to think of what to put in them - I wanted something fun and whimsical - but not expensive - and it had to fit in the tiny frame. So, this morning I had an idea ... something I learned in kindergarten. Melted crayons. For those of you who aren't aware of this form of art. all you have to do is peel the paper off your crayons and sharpen them until there is nothing left. Then you take the sharpenings and some waxed paper, paper towel and possibly an old tea towel over to your ironing board. First, lay out some paper towel to protect your board, then a piece of the waxed paper - wax side up, then disperse the crayon shavings then top with another piece of waxed paper, then more paper towel, then a tea towel. Got all that?? Ok, here's the tricky part ... then you IRON the whole thing at a low setting. You have to iron it until the crayon melts and fuses the waxed paper together. Depend on how much you iron it you will get different effects - see my example. After it cooled a bit I cut out some hearts from a stencil. See how pretty. And here is how it looks like in the frames!

Pretty don't you think?

Referrals are out! Get the calculator ...

So the news is out. October 13 is the cut off date. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry - or do both as I check out all the cute babies on the lucky blogs. 16 days of referrals. I cannot help but calculate how many more days are left for us to wait. From October 13 to November 7 is 25 days ... 25 looooonnnnng days. Ok, so lets do a bit of predicting .... if the CCAA does another 16 days next month then we'll be at October 29. Then, if the CCAA can do at least 9 days then we're in!!! So I am thinking a referral at the beginning of April!

Anyone know how Chinese New year affects referrals??? Does it delay everything a week??!
