8 days to go

Yesterday we bought our airline tickets! We had a lot of help from Stephan's cousin Brigitte who works for AC.

So we are leaving the evening of the 25th heading to Vancouver where we will spend the night, then the next morning we head off to Beijing (11 hour flight YIKES!) We will arrive a day ahead of our group which will give us some time to settle in. We return on the 10th (a day after the group) via Toronto (13.5 hour flight YIKES!).

Glad that this part is done but I am wondering how to keep Francis (and myself) entertained during those long flights!

Great news!
To keep your boy accupied maybe you can try matchbox cars (they are small and fit pretty much anywhere, playdough, coloring books and crayons, does he like playing cards?( Go fish or Uno)...just some suggestions....hope you have a great trip.

My sister-in-law just took my nephew (age 5) on a long flight and brought some new toys (transformers) that he hadn't seen before and pulled them out once they were up in the air and settled. Since they were new, he played with them for hours.

I bet you must have to keep pinching yourself to get it to sink in that you're actually leaving in a week!!

On the way home you will be busy with Naomi...yay!!!! (Lily was great on the flight, BTW, slept thru most of it) Hopefully you will have a similar experience.

Oooo...won't be long now! Wish there was a way we could see you during your Toronto stopover but I have a feeling we won't be able to get to you. Too bad! So close and yet so far.

Counting down the days with you!

I do it often between europe and the west coast.
1. New toys (small!) every hour or so. Have a bunch wrapped in your carry on. Also works as a reward for good behaviour.
2. DVD. I know there is inflight stuff but honestly there ususally isn't enough for a full day flight. If you are taking a laptop-extra battery or a sep DVD player. WE SWEAR by this.

Best of luck. We fly in 3 weeks so do post as to what worked. We have the luck of 2 evening flights so am hoping both will sleep.
